June 20
11:35 a.m. Theft. 105 Second St. S. An officer was dispatched to Kwik Trip for a report of a theft that had occurred overnight. The employee reported that flashlight valued at $5.99 was stolen. The officer watched video footage of the theft. A man was seen walking around the store and picking up and returning multiple items before taking a flashlight and leaving the store without paying. The officer observed that the man walked away from the store in the direction of Hi-Vue mobile home park. While on patrol in the park the next day an officer observed a man matching the description of the man in the video. Officers made contact with the man and he admitted to taking the flashlight. The man was cited and released.
June 21
3:45 p.m. Domestic. An officer was dispatched to a physical domestic that was not in progress. The officer arrived on scene and met with the female complainant. The woman stated on June 19 she was physically assaulted by her husband. She stated she was pushed up against plastic shelving during an argument. The officer observed a red abrasion on her forehead. Officers located the man and arrested him. He was transported to Stearns County Jail.
June 22
6:26 pm. Assist agency. Benton Drive North. While on patrol a Sartell officer overheard that a Sauk Rapids Officer was out with a reckless driver that had gone off the road and crashed in a ditch off Benton Drive. The Sartell officer responded and remained on scene for officer safety as the Sauk Rapids officer ran the driver through field sobriety testing. The male driver failed all testing and was placed under arrest for DWI.
June 23
5:08 p.m. Riverside Avenue N. Traffic stop. While monitoring traffic near the intersection of Second Street South and CR 78 an officer observed a motorcyclist pull into the Hi-Vue Park. A few minutes later the officer observed the motorcyclist leaving the park this time without a passenger. As the bike passed his location the officer observed that the rear license plate was obstructed by debris. The officer stopped the motorcycle and met with the driver. The driver identified himself and gave the officer his motorcycle instructional permit. The driver was not wearing a helmet. The officer returned to his squad and completed a citation charging the driver with an instructional permit violation for not wearing a helmet. He was warned for having a passenger and the obstructed plate. The driver was released after a friend dropped a helmet off for him.
June 24
12:34 p.m. Third Street N. Medical. An officer was dispatched for a report of a 14-month-old child who was seizing. The officer observed that the child was no longer seizing but was lethargic. Gold Cross arrived and took over care. After the assessment was complete the child was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by his parents.
June 25
14:19 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 120 and CR 1. An officer observed an eastbound vehicle on CR 120. The officer ran a routine license plate check on this vehicle and observed that the registration was expired as of January 2018. The officer also observed that the windshield was cracked and in the driver’s view. The officer stopped the vehicle. The driver identified himself but was unable to provide proof of insurance. The driver was released after being cited for expired registration and no proof of insurance. He was warned for the other violations.
June 26
2:07 a.m. Shoplifter. 21 CR 120. Officers were dispatched for a report of two parties who were attempting to leave Walmart without paying for items. Officers observed a man and a woman in the parking lot who matched the description of the shoplifters. Both admitted to stealing items. The mman had stolen a pot and pan set valued at $109. The woman had stolen kitchen items valued at $11.97. Both were cited for shoplifting and trespassed from the property.
