St. Stephen Fire, Rescue to hold Sunday breakfast
Come join the St. Stephen Fire and Rescue team for their annual breakfast from 8:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, Oct. 8 at the St. Stephen Parish Hall, 103 CR 2. Food will be prepared by the firefighters. Free-will donations will be accepted to support the continued life-saving work of our areas heroes.
Stearns County to hold seized, surplus auction
Stearns County will hold a fall auction to sell seized and surplus property on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Stearns County Public Works building, 455 28th Ave. S., Waite Park, three blocks south of Mill’s Fleet Farm. Site opens at 8 a.m.; auction begins at 9:30 a.m. Auction goers will be able to bid on many cars, trucks, SUVs and vans; a John Deere tractor; a snow plow; and various office items such as computers, desks, chairs and file cabinets; shelving; a generator; floor jack; step ladder; fence gates; garage doors; pallets; and many other miscellaneous items. Senior Connection to host Out of Africa
The Sartell Senior Connection will host a free Out of Africa presentation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the Sartell Community Center, 850 19th St. S. Sartell. (If center is not open yet, back up location is the District Service Center, 212 Third Ave. N., Sartell.) Pat McNeal will share his adventure of traveling Africa this past spring. Travel to national parks in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Botswana and explore the wildlife and culture of the people who live nearby. Anna Marie’s Alliance seeks donation helpers
Anna Marie’s Alliance needs some extra help organizing, sorting and transporting donations. They especially need help on Thursdays. Shifts are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 12:30-4:30 p.m., but can be flexible. Their mission at Anna Marie’s Alliance is to provide a safe place for victims of domestic abuse and to achieve systems change that reduces violence. Bookworm wanted to read with Country Manor residents
Country Manor residents have requested to have a volunteer come in one time per week (for approximately one hour) to read out loud to a small group of residents. Volunteer will choose books they would like to read with approval from the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Salvation Army seeks help for distributing food to clients
The Salvation Army is seeking food shelf help to bag and distribute food to clients in need of food. They have openings for mornings, 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m., and afternoons, 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; volunteer may take as many shifts as schedules allow. Contact Barb at the Salvation Army at 320-252-4552.
Certified therapy dogs sought to visit hospice patients
St. Croix Hospice is looking for compassionate individuals and their furry friends to visit people affected by a life-limiting illness. Pet therapy has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and physical and emotional pain. We are seeking people from Central Minnesota. Visits are typically made once a week.
