Starting in August, the current Sartell High School will be closed for public use except for the auxiliary gym, the Sartell-St. Stephen school board learned Feb. 25.
Superintendent Jeff Schwiebert said that while remodeling takes place to convert the building for middle school students, there won’t be enough entrances and exits available to meet fire code so that more of the building can be open.
Auxiliary-gym use will be limited to 100 people so it will be available for practices and youth sports but gymnastics meets will need to be held elsewhere. There will be two doors available for auxiliary-gym users.
