A wise man once told me not to get into a peeing match with a skunk. However, in this case I must correct the untruths and half-truths expressed by Julie Zupfer Anderson (in her Sept. 20 letter to editor).
As an educator for 43 years, I am well aware of the open-meeting laws and none of those laws were broken or breached in any way. At the time I was on the school board it was clear the board needed to move in another direction of creating and directing policy. However, the existing board choose to micro-manage rather than allowing the district and school administrators do their job. The board had placed school-board members on committees that should have been the responsibility of the school and district administrators. It was not only that the board was micro-managing, but they paid themselves quite nicely supposedly for their committee time.
I just got off the telephone with Dr. Hill and come to find out the $200,000 that Zupfer Anderson claims the school district paid Dr. Hill to buy him out is totally inaccurate. The sum was one-fourth of that amount, which was paid out. That is public information at the school-district office. It appears Zupfer Anderson is setting up the second generation to move forward with a dysfunctional school board. Julie, haven’t you created enough chaos in this district? It’s time to right the wrongs and vote Gruber, Ringstad and Alexander.
