Most of Sartell voters favored the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan presidential ticket in the Nov. 6 election, but they rejected Rep. Michele Bachmann’s bid for re-election, and they approved one state constitutional amendment proposal but rejected the other.
City voters approved the “Voter ID” amendment on a vote of 4,730 to 3,746. They voted down the “Marriage Amendment” by 4,475 to 4,023.
President Barack Obama and vice president Joe Biden were elected in Minnesota and in the nation; Bachmann did win in 6th District, defeating challenger Jim Graves; and both constitutional amendments were voted down in Minnesota.
Sartell voters opted for “winners,” however, in helping re-elect Democrat U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (over Kurt Bills), Republican State Sen. Michelle Fischbach (over Peggy Boeck) and Sartell resident and former mayor Tim O’Driscoll (over Shannon Schroeder), who will serve a second term representing District 13B in the Minnesota Legislature.
A majority of voters in all of Sartell’s 7 precincts cast votes for the Romney-Ryan ticket, and voters in all precincts voted overwhelmingly for Klobuchar, Fischbach and O’Driscoll.
Bachmann came out ahead in only the 7th precinct, where she garnered 744 votes compared to 720 against her.
