We welcome our friends and neighbors to enjoy a self-guided tour of the private gardens and green space of Saint John’s Abbey. The backyard of the monastery contains several gardens maintained by various monks which include a wide variety of flora selected by each gardener. Notably, several mature pines, the seeds of which were transported from Metten Abbey in Bavaria and planed shortly after the founding of Saint John’s Abbey nearly 165 years ago still stand.
A suggested donation of $5 per person is payable upon arrival. All tours begin at the Great Hall on the campus of Saint John’s University. Tours are handicapped accessible and last between 45 to 90 minutes.
