A Sartell man is facing a charge of ineligible voting in the 2016 general election.
The complaint states Jeffrey John Spanier, 52, broke a probation agreement when he registered to vote.
Three years ago, Spanier was convicted of sports-bookmaking. He then signed an agreement he cannot vote during his probation.
However, it is alleged Spanier did register to vote last November and certified, falsely, he had not been convicted of a felony – the bookmaking conviction. He then proceeded to cast a ballot in the election.
Spanier is expected to appear in court next month, a first appearance for allegedly registering to vote as a convicted felon.
