DISTRICT SERVICE CENTER BOARD ROOM
The regular school board meeting of Independent School District 748 was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by Chair Jason Nies. Members present: Nies, chair; Mary McCabe, vice chair; Pamela Raden, clerk; Jeremy Snoberger, treasurer; Lesa Kramer, director; Patrick Marushin, director; and Jeff Schwiebert, superintendent. Members absent: None.
A motion was made by Raden and seconded by Snoberger to APPROVE AGENDA WITH THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENTS to personnel omnibus – Laura Arndt and add to leaves of absence – Carmen Peterson, Angela Seutter. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kramer and seconded by Marushin to APPROVE CONSENT ITEMS A-D AS PRESENTED BELOW. All in favor. Motion carried.

Student Representative Report: Nicholas Juntunen, student representative
•Juntunen reported on happenings around the district. Oak Ridge hosted its art show on April 5. Pine Meadow will host its art show on May 10, “Mornings with Mom” on May 11 and “Donuts for Dad” on May 18. At the Middle School, fifth-grader Yazaan Anjum was one of 100 students from around the state to compete in the State Geography Bee in Mankato, Sarah Bolton won a prize in the Scholastic Poetry Contest, 16 students will compete at the Prairie Woods Environmental Contest and the Battle of the Books will begin in the coming weeks. At the high school, the Knowledge Bowl team took first place at state competition, Prom tickets are currently on sale, the NHS Induction Banquet was on April 9 and Student Council elections are occurring in the next two weeks.
Construction Manager Report on Building Process:
•Construction Manager Lee Gruen reported progress is continuing while adapting to the continued cold weather. An intense schedule update occurred last week and will be posted today; no concerns with the dates, but will stack trade workers in the future. Plumbing and foundation work are finishing in the next weeks. Mechanical and electrical contractors are working where they are able. There was a roofing materials fire, but there are no concerns or issues with the project timeline due to the fire. Both Winkelman and McDowall held all company safety meetings and will enact some new procedures.
Superintendent Report: Jeff Schwiebert, superintendent
•Schwiebert reflected on the events that occurred at Sauk-Rapids Rice and reminded the board our district’s policy and procedures are almost identical to the one’s they follow. A clarification from last meeting was made that he misspoke on how kids are different today, rather kids are not different today, but kids’ behavior is different today which means we have to be prepared to follow the district training and procedures. Along with Jason and Lesa he met with the City of Sartell and Police department to discuss safety. He let the staff know in an email of this meeting and reminded staff to wear their staff badges when in student environments.
School Board Committee Report:
•Chair Nies and Director Kramer reported on the safety meeting with the City of Sartell and Police Department.
•Director Snoberger did not have a committee report, but reported on the KIVA project at the High School that he attended.
Enrollment Report:
•Superintendent Schwiebert reported on the current enrollment numbers for each school.
Building Program Report:
•Karl Schwarnweber, physical education/health teacher; Roy Snyder, social studies teacher/coach; Ryan Hauge, activities director; and Nick Peterson, high school assistant principal presented on high school physical education and activities.

A motion was made by Snoberger and seconded by Marushin to APPROVE FUNDRAISER FOR SARTELL CLAY TARGET TEAM AND SARTELL BOYS GOLF. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Raden to APPROVE RESOLUTION DISCONTINUING AND REDUCING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND POSITIONS. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Snoberger and seconded by McCabe to APPROVE CALL FOR BIDS FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF PARKING LOT AT PINE MEADOW ELEMENTARY, RECONSTRUCTION OF MIDDLE SCHOOL WEST ACCESS ROAD, CONTRUCTION OF TENNIS COURTS AT NEW HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AND MATERIALS ONLY FOR VISUAL DISPLAY BOARDS AT THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Marushin and seconded by Snoberger to APPROVE PERMANENT UTILITY, DRAINAGE, TRAIL AND ROADWAY EASEMENT AND TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF SARTELL. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Marushin and seconded by Snoberger to APPROVE THE CHAMPION FIELD AGREEMENT. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Marushin to APPROVE THE 2017-2018 BUDGET REVISIONS FOR THE 2017-2018 BUDGET YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2018. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Snoberger and seconded by Kramer to APPROVE ADOPTION OF POLICY 423 EMPLOYEE-STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS. All in favor. Motion carried.
