CLARIFICATION

A June 15 feature story about a Sartell family that fasts during Ramadan needs a clarification. Zurya Anjum, who was interviewed for the story, buys dates to distribute at the mosque at the end of Ramadan, but the money she uses to buy the dates is raised by a local organization known as UniteCloud, which promotes kindness, understanding, and ethnic and religious diversity in the central Minnesota area.


Courtney Deters of Sartell received a Catholic United Financial scholarship.


Bradley Blommel of Sartell graduated in electrical technology from Minnesota State Community and Technical College.


Seven Sartell students graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo.

The students are: Elizabeth Czeck, bachelor’s degree in environmental design and liberal arts degree in landscape architecture; Taylor Mareck  bachelor’s in nursing; Kirsten Miller, doctorate in pharmacy; Alec Staiger, bachelor’s in mechanical engineering; Emma Stambaugh, bachelor’s in marketing; Jacob Wenzel, bachelor’s in industrial engineering and management; and Heather Yelle, bachelor’s in civil engineering. Mareck and Staiger graduated with honors for earning a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.


Nine Sartell students were named to the spring dean’s list at Concordia College, Moorhead. To qualify, a student must have a minimum 3.7 grade-point average.

The are the following: Megan Franz, Curt Koopmeiners, Candice Koopmeiners, Hannah Kosloski, Joshua Maricle-Roberts, Benjamin Maurer, Emma Mitzel, MacKenzie Nies and Alyssa Yapp.


Anna Miller of Sartell was named to the spring president’s honor roll at Valley City (N.D.) State University. To qualify for the honor roll, a student needs to maintain a 4.0 grade-point average.


 Two Sartell High School graduates were named to the spring dean’s list at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. They are Kia Grindland, majoring in elementary inclusive education, and Olivia Garner, majoring in graphic design. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must earn a minimum 3.25 grade-point average.

Five Sartell students were named to the spring dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. They are Elizabeth Botz, Kelsey Frank, Nicole Lindmeier, Addison Rengel and Emma Zenzen.


Five Sartell students were named to the spring dean’s list at Iowa State University, Ames. They are Taylor Buske, Aaron McNabb Evans, Allison Fiedler Juntunen, Phillip Misterman and Austin Pietrowski. To be named to the dean’s list, a student needs to maintain a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.


Four Sartell students graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. They are Spencer Kight, mathematics and statistics; Elisabeth McCabe, summa cum laude in elementary education; Elizabeth Toeben, psychological science; and Matthew Vierzba, cum laude in political science. Commencement was held June 2.


Alexander Stidmon, son of Kimberly and Michael Stidmon of Sartell, earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwestern College, St. Paul.


Six Sartell students were named to the spring dean’s at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Dean’s list students need to maintain at least a minimum 3.7 grade-point average. They are Spencer Kight, Lindsey Martens, Tianna Raden, Laura Schwichtenberg, Elizabeth Toeben and Michael Volgman-Mercuri.


Twenty-two Sartell-St. Stephen High School graduates earned academic honors during spring semester at St. Cloud Technical & Community College. President’s list students maintain a 4.0 grade-point average and dean’s list students maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average. 

President’s list students are Jennifer Hallerman from St. Stephen and Kenneth Cruze, Tyler Elness, Jacquelyn Middendorf, Nathan Nierenhausen, Jessica Potzmann, Abigail Silman, Abagail Swenson and Sandra Tabor all of Sartell. Dean’s list students from Sartell are Kaiya Anderson, Piper Berndt, Jessica Kinkaid, Olivia Lamont, Luke Payne, Matthew Raven, Mitchell Rolek, Katherine Ronyak, Ann Stang, Collin Stevens, Melissa Thompson, Jake Welle and Andrew Wensman.


Thirty-four Sartell students were named to spring dean’s list at St. Cloud State University.  To be eligible, students must have a grade-point average of at least 3.75. They are Wendy Albjerg, Thomas Bevans, Courtney Boe, Hannah Carey, Katherine Cashman, Jessica Condon, Tyler Cronquist, Lauren Ditmarson, Paige Elyea, Kayla Ferraro, Alicia Freihammer, Arielle Gapinski, Alexis Haas, Gabrielle Hagen, Donovan Hample, Jordan Heinen, Sara Higgins, Anna Hince, Luke Kessler, Meghan Kirby, Christine Koch, Christopher Leach, Nicholas Lengyel, Ethan Licht, Donovan Magney, Joseph Miller, Jonathan Oleson, Maggie Powers, Laurie Robles Ramirez, Hannah Rodness, Kristi Silvers, Mikayla Stockinger,  Jeffrey Van Slooten and Daniel Wilson.

Caeley Anderson and Makenna Privratsky of Sartell received their Minnesota Music Teachers Association Challenge Award trophies at the spring piano recital May 13 at St. Francis Xavier Gathering Place.
Both girls have participated in numerous MMTA programs to achieve their Challenge Award trophies. It takes four to five  years to achieve this goal.

The DeZurik team

Project ASTRIDE was selected as the nonprofit recipient of funds raised at the 8th annual DeZurik  and Brenny Trucking Walk & Run. The walk/run is part of the wellness program for their employees and it’s benefited several local nonprofits throughout the years. The event was April 28 and approximately 120 participated. Project ASTRIDE received $5,000 from the event.

Brenny Transportation was presented with a Platinum Saftey Award by Great West Casualty as part of Great West’s Annual National Safety Awards program. The National Safety Awards program recognizes motor carriers in similar operations (truckload and less than truckload) with awards based on their year-end preventable crash results. Carriers are eligible to receive a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Participatory award.

Two Sartell students recently graduated from Iowa State University, Ames. The students are: Aaron Evans, bachelor’s in industrial design, Honors Program member, magna cum laude; and Allison Juntunen, bachelor’s in biology.


Three Sartell-St. Stephen students were recently named to the spring dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average. The students are: Hannah Yackley, St. Stephen, microbiology; and Sartell students Haley Klundt, an economics major; and Taylor Pasell, a communication studies major with an organizational and professional-communication emphasis.


Seven Sartell students have been named to the spring dean’s list at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Students on the dean’s list have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

The students are:  Laurana Deuel, senior, civil engineering; Mackenzie Krueger, freshman, theatre;  Bret Burggraff, junior, theater;  Nate Miller, junior, computer science; Rachael Solarz, sophomore, mathematics; Trevor Raths, sophomore, mechanical engineering; and Wyatt Hill, junior, biochemistry.
