Rewarding opportunity working with youth

Minnesota reading and math tutors are needed in schools throughout the St. Cloud area. These positions begin in August and continue through the end of June. Literacy tutors support PreK or K-3 students developing literacy skills, while math tutors help fourth- to eighth-graders increase their math skills. Literacy and math tutors earn a $597 (full-time plus) bi-weekly living allowance and up to $5,920 education award that can be used to repay federal student loans or further one’s education (members 55+ can transfer to a child or grandchild). Tutors are fully trained to deliver research-based interventions to students with the goal of developing their literacy and math skills and helping them catch up to grade level. Service with these programs is a great professional experience, while providing service in your community. It’s as easy as just spending time with kids. They ask volunteers to be able to relate well with children in a group environment, participate as an active team member with staff and other volunteers and abide by volunteer policies.
