As mayor of the city of Waite Park, I proudly and enthusiastically write a letter supporting our Chief Dave Bentrud, for our next Stearns County sheriff. Chief Bentrud has served the city of Waite Park well. From managing a multi-million-dollar budget, to managing a staff of 24 people, to taking on the latest crime explosion of sex trafficking, Chief Bentrud has kept pace with what needs to be done.
His years of experience, his education and training, his leadership with a host of state organizations, has served us well and would serve Stearns County well too! We need a new, outside perspective to take the sheriff’s office to the next level.
The only bad thing about Dave being elected sheriff, is we would lose him as our chief! Having him be a part of an overall law-enforcement effort would make that loss easier to accept! Waite Park respects Chief Bentrud and I am supporting him as Stearns County sheriff!
