Voting
Congratulations to all of you who were able to vote in this last election Nov. 6.
Do you want to become an American citizen so that you, too, can vote? Central Minnesota Adult Basic Education offers citizenship courses at two locations. Hands Across the World classes are at the Great River Regional Library. In Waite Park, classes are at Quarryview Education Center, 800 Seventh St. S. The classes are designed to prepare individuals for the USCIS examination.
Quarryview class times are 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.For information call 320-370-8220. Hands Across the World classes are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays at the library, 1300 St. Germain St. For information call 320-260-1072.
St. Joseph will schedule another citizenship class in 2019.
English as a Second Language
St. Joseph continues to hold ESL classes from 9-10:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. For questions contact the Adult Basic Education main office at Quarryview Education Center at 320-370-8220. They will give you the locations of classes in St. Joseph.
Soccer for boys ages 7-15
Yahye Weheleye from St. Cloud has already formed two soccer leagues in St. Cloud and some teams in Willmar. He has offered to help start soccer teams in St. Joseph this coming summer. Cultural Bridges and CMCEO hope to form partnerships with the city of St. Joseph, St. Joseph businesses and other organizations in creating a community summer sport that will provide a new opportunity for all boys who live here and are not already involved in other sports camps or leagues. Be watching this space for more information.
