The Sartell High School girls basketball team Sabres Helping Sabres game has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 15, when the team hosts Zimmerman at 7:15 p.m. The event, originally planned for Feb. 8, was postponed because of weather.
The team is supporting Lucy Ann Koehn, daughter of Nikki and Tim Koehn, and sister of Hayden Koehn. Lucy Ann is a third-grader from Oak Ridge Elementary School and her family belongs to Celebration Lutheran Church. Lucy’s mom found a lump on Lucy Ann’s back that had not been there the night before.
An MRI confirmed it was a tumor. Soon she had her first of what would be four surgeries. Lucy Ann was diagnosed with malignant myoepithelioma soft tissue high-grade sarcoma. There are fewer than 100 cases worldwide. This week she will begin her fourth and final round of chemo, which will then be followed by a five-week stay at Rochester Mayo for radiation.
At the game, here will be many activities as well as opportunities to honor loved ones who have also battled cancer.
