Apollo, Tech diplomas will be mailed to seniors
After receiving guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education, the St. Cloud school district canceled plans for a scaled down graduation ceremony for Apollo and Tech seniors. The new plans call for diplomas to be mailed in June. The district hopes to bring seniors and families together for an event at the River’s Edge Convention Center in July.

1,000-plus masks needed
Community members are needed to make and donate cloth masks for at-risk community members and health care workers. This link from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html shows patterns for making masks. Completed masks can be dropped off at Coborn’s, 900 Cooper Ave. S., St. Cloud, behind the service counter during store hours and at Whitney Senior Center west door, 1527 Northway Drive, St. Cloud, in the covered bin marked MASKS. Help families in crisis
Consider becoming a volunteer for the St. Cloud Area Crisis Nursery, a program of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. This service provides free, 24-hour hotline support to parents dealing with personal stress or crisis. The Crisis Nursery needs volunteers to counsel and support families that call the hotline from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends. Volunteers answer the hotline from home.
