A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of James Edmund Simon, 71, of St. Joseph, will be held from noon-6 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at the Simon Family Farm in St. Joseph, Minnesota. Simon died unexpectedly Friday, April 16, 2021, at the St. Cloud Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Simon was born Sept. 10, 1949, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Bernard and Viola (Hansen) Simon. Simon graduated in the Class of 1967 from Tech High School. He married Vicki Wentz on Oct. 21, 1978, in Mahnomen, Minnesota. They enjoyed 42 years together. Simon enjoyed farming, driving his Peterbilt semi truck, driving his 57 Chevy and his Corvettes. Most of all, he enjoyed his family and “pestering” his grandchildren; he had a “goofy” sense of humor.
Survivors include the following: his wife, Vicki; his four children, Nichole (Jeremy Kunstleben) Simon of Albany, Sheelar (Jeremy) Fuchs of Illinois, Nathan (Ashley) Simon of Melrose, Natausha (Paul Hollermann) Simon of Albany; seven grandchildren; a brother Bob (Jane) Simon of St. Joseph; a sister, Marie (Bob) Connally of Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Al Simon; and a sister, Leona Gapko.
