Following Gov. Tim Walz’s announced lifting of restrictions on outdoor gatherings beginning May 7 and indoor gatherings beginning May 28, District 742 released updated plans for end-of-year activities for Apollo High School.

For prom Saturday, May 15, students are now allowed to have two spectators at the grand march at 7:30 p.m. Prom immediately follows the grand march and ends at 11 p.m. Pods of 10 students can arrive together and be spaced six feet apart. Masks are still required.

The vehicle parade for Apollo will remain the same, from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 26.

Seniors and their families, in a single vehicle, are invited to drive through the parade route on the school site to celebrate upcoming graduates. Seniors are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns and decorate their vehicles with school pride.

Faculty and staff will line the parade route to celebrate and say goodbye to the Class of 2021.

Graduation will take place at River’s Edge Convention Center at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 28.

Each graduate will receive eight tickets. Masks, but not social distancing, will be required.

The ceremony will include recorded music showcasing band, orchestra and choir students; live speeches including the senior speaker, principal, student-selected faculty member, and Superintendent Willie Jett; the awarding of individual diplomas; and presentation of Class of 2021.

Each ceremony will be live- streamed for those who cannot attend.

In addition, an online virtual graduation ceremony will be available online at 9 p.m. Friday, May 28.
