If you have a tip concerning a crime, call the Sartell Police Department at 320-251-8186 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 320-255-1301, or access its tip site at tricountycrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers offers rewards up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a crime.

Sept. 27

4:32 p.m. Training. First Street NE. The Sartell police, fire, public works and other personnel participated in a full-scale disaster exercise. All departments were tested in emergency operations preparedness and how they would respond to such an incident. After the event was completed, all departments returned to the Public Safety Facility to do debriefing on how the exercise went.

Sept. 28

4:14 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 120. While an officer was on routine patrol, he ran a license plate check on a vehicle in front of him and learned the license plates had the status of suspended. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver stated he had purchased the vehicle and had not transferred everything yet and did not have insurance on the vehicle. The officer ran the driver’s name and learned the driver was cancelled-inimical to public safety. The license status means the State of Minnesota has deemed the driver a public safety risk, and a habitual violator. The officer placed the man under arrest, transported him to the Stearns County Jail and had the vehicle towed for safe keeping.

Sept. 30

10:35 p.m. Agency assist. CR 1. An officer was requested for a woman who was under-ringing merchandise. When the officer arrived, he saw an asset protection employee stopping the woman past all points of purchase. The woman was cooperative and escorted to the office. The officer was informed two different transactions happened, and 15 different items were missed being scanned, for a total loss of $82.52. The officer issued the woman a citation for theft.

Oct. 2

7:35 p.m. Suspicious activity. Riverside Avenue S. Officers were called for a man in a truck that parks across the street for hours at a time. Today the man followed a delivery driver and told him he was a bad driver. The truck had been parked across the street waiting when the delivery driver returned. The officer saw the vehicle, walked out of the business and it was gone. The officer informed them to call when the vehicle comes back next time, so they can contact him. The officer checked the area but was unable to locate the truck.

Oct. 3

7:20 a.m. Assist person. 11th Avenue E. Dispatch received a call from a man who was trapped in his garage, and the garage door wouldn’t open. He was unable to lift the door due to a back injury. The officer arrived and found the door open a few inches. The man told the officer to call for reinforcements because the officer wouldn’t be able to lift it alone. The officer lifted the door another foot and a half before it wouldn’t move any further. The man was able to crawl out from underneath the door.
