Sept. 15 St. Joseph police blotter

June 28
7:55 p.m. Child endangerment. Northland Drive/Hickory Drive. An officer observed a girl under the age of 5 running through yards on Iris Lane, and then she was spotted running in the park by the volley ball court with no adult around. Officer made contact with a family found across the park, spoke with the father, who said the girl went over to a house on Iris to play with other children. Officer told him he needs to watch his child due to the age.

June 29
1:34 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Cypress Drive. Police office received a call about a suspicious white vehicle parked near Hollow Park apartments located on Cypress Drive. An officer arrived and found a white vehicle, ran a Minnesota license plate check and it came back to a tenant in the apartment. Complainant said the car had been parked there for three weeks. The officer noticed it appeared Hollow Park apartments had some maintenance going on there, and attempted to call the registered owner, but no one answered. No violation at this time and nothing suspicious noted.

June 30
7:49 a.m. Alarm. Neighbors Route 75. Officers were dispatched to Neighbors restaurant for an alarm. A deputy was on scene when alarm began. He advised the building was secure and no one around.

11:09 p.m. Noise complaint. Colman Court. Officers were dispatched to a loud party. The complainant stated he could hear a loud party that was northeast of city hall. Officers were able to hear music from Callaway Street E and College Circle. Officers walked many blocks, all the way to Ninth Avenue SE and Minnesota Street E, and were not able to pinpoint the loud music. An officer parked near the complainant’s residence and was no longer able to hear the music.

July 1
5:14 a.m. Speeding. CR 75 near CR 2. Officer was conducting stationary radar when a vehicle traveling eastbound appeared to be going at a higher rate of speed than the posted speed limit. The officer locked in a speed reading of 75 mph in a 60-mph zone, spoke with the driver who stated he was late for work, believed he was traveling approximately 69 mph, and did not know if the speed limit was either 60 mph or 65 mph. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 75 mph in a 60-mph zone. Officer explained citation to him and he had no questions. The radar was tested at the beginning of the officer’s shift and found to be working properly.

July 4
1:09 a.m. Fight. Minnesota Street W. Officers were dispatched to a fight at Sal’s Bar. Made contact with two men who were involved. Witnesses said it was only verbal and not physical. One of the men drank someones else’s drink.

July 5
9:48 a.m. Found item. College Avenue N./Minnesota Street. While on the grounds for Joetown Rocks, a man approached an officer and gave them a debit card that was found on the grounds. Officer called the person who’s listed on the card and left them a voicemail. The card holder called after that, and asked if her card could be shredded as she had canceled it already.

July 7
11:47 p.m. First Avenue NE. Officer observed an open door at a residence. The garage door was open and there were no vehicles nearby. Checked the building, did not observe anything suspicious. The garage door was secured.

July 8
7:58 a.m. Medical. Ash Street W. Officer was dispatched to a medical. Spoke with patient who claimed extreme pain and dizziness. Ambulance and rescue took over scene.

July 14
9:50 a.m. Property damage. Second Avenue SE. Officer was dispatched to a property damage phone call. Complainant reported her house was egged twice this week. She heard it happen at 2 a.m. but did not get up. No cameras or suspects. She just wanted to document the incident. Egg has been cleaned up. She said she is getting cameras and will call if she captures it if it happens again.

July 15
3:50 p.m. Suspicious activity. 10th Avenue SE. The complainant called stating a silver Nissan and a Ford Ranger were doing a drug deal in the parking lot. Complainant gave license plates numbers for both vehicles. The vehicles then left. The complainant stated the people in the Nissan were two men of color. Officer checked the area and was unable to locate, called the owner of the Nissan who said his kid met with a friend and gave knuckles. Officer went to the address but the Nissan was not there. Spoke to the complainant further who said he only saw a 2×2 bag with a white substance inside. Based on the info and unable to locate the vehicles, no further action.
