The widely renowned St. John’s Boys’ Choir will perform two concerts (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) Saturday, Dec. 16 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown St. Cloud.

The concerts, dubbed “A Ceremony of Carols,” will also feature the SJBC orchestra and the alumni choir.

Those who attend are being asked to bring items for a supply drive for Anna Marie’s Alliance, which provides safety, shelter, support, and referral services to survivors of domestic violence and their children throughout central Minnesota.

Tickets are available at sjbchoir.org/tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door, subject to availability.

Now in its 43rd season, the SJBC has performed year after year locally and now and then throughout the world. In 2019, the SJBC gave a debut performance at New York City’s prestigious Carnegie Hall. The choir has also performed in some of the world’s greatest churches, including Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The choir was founded in 1981 by Brother Paul Richards of the St. John’s monastic community. The choir has  grown to include four choral ensembles that perform more than 50 concerts every year.

The choir has also hosted international choir festivals that brought more than 2,500 singers from around the world to the St. John’s campus.

Members of the choir are boys ages 8-15 from public and private schools, as well as home schools, from 15 cities in the central Minnesota area.

Their repertoire includes sacred motets, classical works and folk music from throughout the world. They also perform contemporary theatrical and popular songs.
