Sept. 22
6:02 a.m. Speeding. CR 2/280th Street. Officer was southbound on CR 2 approaching 280th Street when he observed a vehicle traveling northbound over the speed limit of 55 mph. Officer activated radar and locked in a speed of 73 mph and after it passed the officer, he turned it to rear and it showed 73 mph as well. Officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. The driver stated he was headed to work, didn’t know how fast he was traveling, thought the speed limit was 60 mph, and was thinking about work. I issued the driver a citation for speeding 73 mph in a 55-mph zone, explained and he understood. Officer tested radar at the beginning and at the end of shift and found it to be working properly.
10:13 a.m. Unwanted person. Callaway Street E. A woman came into the police department and wanted to chat about her son’s friend who has been staying with them. She stated he has been there for about a week and would like him to leave. She stated he claims he’s 18 and works at Coborn’s. She doesnt know anything about him. Officer advised she would have to ask him to leave being it’s not past 30 days for residency, and that she should probably get more information on him from him or her son to know who he is.
Sept. 24
4:04 a.m. Missing person. College Avenue S. While investigating a missing person’s call, officer had cleared the property, but observed there to be a susa in pending. Officer arrived on scene and located the missing person that was reported earlier.
8:42 p.m. Vehicle crash. CR 75/CR 2. Dispatch said two cars were involved. Officer arrived on scene and gathered info. Driver #1 stated they were going south on CR 2, crossing over CR 75 when vehicle #2 hit them in the front passenger side. Driver #2 stated he was north on College Avenue N, turning to go west on CR 75 when they crashed. Everyone was wearing seatbelts and no air bags were deployed. No complaints of injury. Sept. 26
8:51 a.m. Firearms background check. Callaway Street E. Officer conducted background check for a permit to purchase a firearm.
12:29 p.m. Hazard/crash. Ash Street E/Second Avenue NE. Officer arrived on scene of a hazard/crash at the intersection. Officer met with the driver of a lumber truck. The driver stated he delivered shingles to a house nearby and drove under the power lines with no issues. The driver stated when he left, the crane seat flipped up and caught the power lines. The power lines were pulled down along with a power pole. There was also a power line that was pulled from a house on Ash Street E. Xcel was contacted to come and repair the power line. Photographs were taken and a crash report completed.
