March 24
12:12 p.m. Assault. Minnesota Street W. An officer was dispatched to an assault that occurred at Sal’s Bar. The officer took statements from a victim and two witnesses and also took a recorded phone conversation from the suspect. Video was also obtained from Sal’s Bar. A citation was issued to the suspect for assault and disorderly conduct.
March 29
4:48 a.m. Medical. 16th Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to a woman with an oxygen level of 83 with influenza A. The officer advised Mayo, arrived on scene and the patient stated she has had influenza A for five days, slight difficulty breathing and a cough. Patient refused oxygen. Mayo arrived on scene and cleared the officer.
March 30
8:16 a.m. Collision. Fir Street E. An officer was dispatched to a crash and observed there to be a silver Pontiac that appeared to have rear-ended a parked vehicle. The officer spoke with the driver of vehicle one who stated he was southbound on Fir Street when the sun hit him directly in the eyes and he didn’t see vehicle two parked on the side of the road. He then rear-ended the parked vehicle. Appeared no injuries besides a scratch on his finger. Front air bags deployed. Instructions to exchange driver information was given to both parties.
April 4
10:36 p.m. Alarm. Elm Street E. Units were dispatched to an alarm at Dollar General An officer arrived on scene and observed the second set of sliding doors were open. A keyholder was contacted and responded. One officer was dispatched to a different call, so another officer walked through with the keyholder. Everything appeared OK.
April 6
1:17 a.m. Public urination. First Avenue NW. While an officer was monitoring foot traffic at bar close, they observed a man who appeared to be urinating on the back side of a building. As the officer drove to catch up to the man, they observed liquid running down the wall. The man was ID’d. Officer asked him if he just urinated on the building and he stated he did. It should be noted another officer wrote suspect for minor consumption a few minutes prior to this interaction with him. Issued and explained citation for public urination to suspect.
April 7
7:29 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Elm Street E. Complainant reported there was a vehicle that had been running for the past 20 minutes. Officer arrived on scene and the vehicle was unoccupied. A man who was in the vehicle next to the truck stated it was his truck. The officer told him the reason for the contact. He stated he did not realize how long he was going to be. He turned the vehicle off.
April 10
8:40 a.m. Harassment. Minnesota Street W. Complainant wanted to report harassing phone calls from a second party. Complainant played to the officer five messages that were left over a period of a couple months. No threats or harassment in any of the messages. Explained harassment restraining order process. Complainant also wanted to report her computer, phone and wifi being hacked by second party. She has made two reports about this in the past two days. No new info. Listened to her vent. Complainant acknowledged second party set her computer and all accounts up. Officer advised complainant they were not hacked if she allowed second party access and provided passwords and now does not want second party to have access. Complainant agreed to set up new accounts and change passwords to prevent second party from using them. Corresponder also arrived and spoke with complainant about mental health resources.
April 11
9:43 p.m. Noise complaint. Birch Street E. While outside the government center, an officer could hear what seemed to be a loud party a couple blocks away. A large gathering of college-age people was located. There were several people screaming and yelling around a large bonfire. An officer made contact with the renters and advised them a warning was given for noise violation. The officers also said if they came back that they would be issuing citations. The renters were very cooperative and started clearing the people out.
