For more than 25 years, Sartell Post Office customers have enjoyed the friendly, helpful, reliable service of postal employee Kaye Wenker.

Besides her expert service, customers also enjoy her quick wit and comical remarks as she interacts with post-office visitors.

It’s no surprise, then, that Wenker has just been honored by the “For the Long Haul” initiative, a program of the U.S. Postal Service that recognizes outstanding employees for their “unwavering commitment and excellence.”

Wenker was surprised but gratified to be honored.

“Working at the Sartell Post Office has allowed me to be a part of the community for so many years, building lasting relationships with my customers,” she said. “I’ve learned the importance of treating every customer with respect and maintaining a positive, polite attitude at all times. It’s been incredibly rewarding to grow alongside my customers over the years.”

Sartell postmaster Joanne Vanderbeek-Ott also had a bouquet of praise for Wenker.

“Kaye brings out the best as a retail associate in the Sartell community,” she said, adding Wenker has long been a civic-minded volunteer in Sartell, organizing the city’s volunteer community-gardening project, serving on the Park Board and active on the Sartell Chamber of Commerce.

“Kaye can often be found volunteering at a moment’s notice,” Vanderbeek-Ott said. “Kaye’s service to the community is unmatched by many. She shows a commitment to the customer and the postal service in all of her daily interactions.”

Wenker began working in Sartell for the U.S. Postal Service in 1989 as a letter carrier. She became a retail associate in 1995 and quickly established herself as a friendly, indispensable presence in the post office.
