Something out-of-the-ordinary occurred at the St. John’s University Refectory Dining Hall on Sept. 25.

A renowned Twin Cities chef, Christian De Leon, “took over” the cooking for that lunch period as a special treat for students. De Leon, owner of a gourmet taco eatery called El Sazon, served to students his guacamole with butternut squash and pomegranate seeds, along with quesabirria tacos and for dessert a pumpkin Tres Leches Cake.

Students from St. John’s University, as well as from the College of St. Benedict, attended the festive luncheon event, and De Leon served 700 meals.
