Once again, a kiddie “Fun Fest” will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the main gymnasium at Sartell High School.

The annual event, which was started 15 years ago, raises funds for good causes, with United Way of Central Minnesota being this year’s recipient. Fun Fest is hosted each year by the award-winning Sartell High School Student Council and the National Honor Society membership group.

Bennett Prose, a high-school senior, has been very active on the Student Council and in helping organize the council’s community projects and special events. He spoke with the Newsleaders recently.

Fun Fest, he said, will feature carnival games and activities that include bounce houses, face-painting, skee-ball, a mini golf course, tattooing and a silent auction – to name just some of the fun events. Each game will cost just 25 cents to play. The silent-auction baskets of items have been donated by local businesses.

At last year’s Fun Fest, the main gym was completely filled with participants, and $5,000 was raised, Prose noted.

“As a (student) council, we are excited to connect with folks in the community and to have fun while doing something good (raising funds for the United Way),” Prose said.

United Way

United Way of Central Minnesota serves people in need living in Benton, Stearns, Sherburne and Wright counties. For more than 50 years, it has served many thousands of people in a wide variety of ways that include food security, health needs, help in finding local resources, education of students and financial stability – to name just some of the more than 50 programs that make people’s lives happier.

All of the work done by United Way is made possible by generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations.
