March 5
7:27 a.m. Crash. CR 120/CR 1. Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at the roundabout. The driver of the vehicle was heading south and lost control on the icy roadway as they were approaching the roundabout. The vehicle went over the curb and struck a light pole and a yield sign. The vehicle was towed, and the driver was not hurt.
March 7
4:04 p.m. Juvenile problem. Beetle Boulevard. Officers were called for a juvenile problem. The caller reported several young children rollerblading on all the floors of the apartment. Officers arrived and found the group of kids in the entryway. Officers spoke to the group on how their running, rollerblading and yelling were causing disruptions to others in the building. The kids were reminded to be respectful of others living in the building and advised to keep this kind of fun outside.
March 9
1 p.m. Animal bite. Seventh Avenue N. The caller had been out for a walk when a black dog came out of a yard and bit her on the back of the leg. The dog was scared away when a motorcycle drove by. A short time later, officers received another phone call from the homeowner of the dog. The caller stated the dog belonged to her son and they were caring for it as he couldn’t have it at his apartment. They stated they had just dropped the dog at the humane society to surrender it. The caller stated the dog was vaccinated and had the paperwork. The victim did report having a lump on the back of her leg, but it did not appear the skin was broken.
March 11
10 a.m. Theft. Seventh Street N. The caller stated their vehicle had been gone through sometime overnight. The caller stated that a pair of sunglasses, and a make-up bag were taken. Earlier in the morning, officers were involved with a separate stolen-vehicle case, to which property matching the victim’s was recovered. The caller came into the police department and confirmed the items were hers and the property was returned to her.
March 14
6:38 p.m. Vehicle fire. 21 CR 120. Officers were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the parking lot. Officers and the fire department arrived to find smoke coming from the hood. Firefighters found an oil rag inside the engine bay believed to be the cause of the fire. The smoke was extinguished and the burnt pieces of the rag removed. No damage was done, and the vehicle was drivable.
March 16
6:06 p.m. Parking complaint. Ninth Avenue N. The caller reported several vehicles parking in front of their mailbox, which is against the city ordinance. The caller believed it was the neighbor’s kids parking there, and would talk with their neighbor, but wanted it documented. Officers passed the information to the community service officer for follow up.
