Lions Club members gathered recently to accept a check for $30,342 from LeSauk Township to help pay for a proposed restroom facility and shelter at Lions Community Park in Sartell.
In March, LeSauk Township board members voted to donate its entire “Parks” fund to the Lions’ project, which is Phase II, with Phase I having been the construction of an all-inclusive playground at the park in 2023.
The bathroom and shelter will be constructed in line with the Americans With Disabilities Act. The shelter, for example, will have enough space for two wheelchairs. A construction in 2026 is planned.
As was the case with the all-inclusive playground, the bathroom-shelter project is a joint effort among three local Lions clubs (Sartell, LeSauk, St. Stephen) and the City of Sartell.
Meantime, fundraising for the project continues.
There are various ways to donate. One can make a tax-deductible donation by writing a check to “The Waters Church” and noting “Sartell Lions Bathroom” on the check’s memo line. Send or drop off the check to The Waters Church, 1227 Pinecone Road N., Sartell, MN 56377.
Or one can donate online via a GoFundMe site at https://www.gofundme.com/f/sartell-inclusive-playgroundada-restroom-and-shelter
