The St. Cloud Police Department’s front desk has received calls from citizens who have been receiving text messages from an unknown source claiming to be the Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles. The text message claims the recipient of the text has an outstanding traffic ticket and that it needs to be paid by June 5, or there will be actions taken on the recipient. The text also gives a website to pay at. Do not respond to this text message or go to the website the text message provided. The police department is urging the public to disregard these texts as fraudulent and to not comply with demands or agree to any payments.
