A restaurant-bar-arcade named “Mr. D’s,” will open in Sartell sometime in August at 1001 Second St. S., right next to Westside Liquors.

An exact date for its opening has not yet been announced.

Mr. D’s will be owned and operated by two long-time Sartell residents, Kenny and Amber Dumpprope. They describe their new venture as “a family dream to create a laid-back, family-friendly spot where neighbors can gather, laugh, eat well and have a great time.”

The facility will feature an arcade where children can play games.

Mr. D’s will be open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays through Wednesdays and from 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dinner time will begin at 3 p.m.

Mr. D’s menu features all kinds of combinations of worldwide cuisines. For example, the “Starters” menu offers a dozen choices. Ono of them is “Papas Rellenas,” which is mashed potatoes stuffed with ground beef, Spanish olives, minced garlic, chopped cilantro and cojita cheese. It’s rolled in bread crumbs and deep-fried, then placed on a red sauce.

“Grilled Pesto Panini” on the “lunch” menu is a grilled herbed chicken breast with pesto (basil sauce), sliced tomatoes, onions, mozzarella and a balsamic-vinegar drizzle on ciabatta bread.

Among the “dinner” options are salads, burgers, steaks, salmon and pasta. A pasta option is “Mushroom Pappardelle,” which consists of sliced oyster, shitake, crimini and portobella mushrooms sauteed with garlic, shallots and pappardelle pasta in a parmesan cream sauce topped with fresh parsley. Kids’ dinner options are hot dogs with fries, grilled cheese, mac ‘n’ cheese, kid’s burger and chicken tenders.

One of the six “dessert” menu offerings is “Nutella Banana Wontons.” It’s a banana filled with Nutella (hazelnut-cocoa spread), wrapped in a wonton and deep-fried, then rolled in sugar and topped with hazelnuts, whiskey caramel and chocolate drizzle.
