June 2
9:06 a.m. Suspicious person. 12 Minnesota St. W. The complainant reported a man in his 30s has been at the Church of St. Joseph numerous times in the past week acting strange. It was reported the man will wander through the church and stay for hours at a time. The man will not acknowledge when people attempt to speak to him and appears to look through them. The officer responded to the church to look at video, but was unable to identify the man as he was too small on camera and they could not figure out how to operate the system. The complainant will email the officer a photo if she is able to get one. Officers explained the church could have him removed if they chose and to contact the Police Department for assistance if he returns.
June 3
10:40 a.m. Vandalism. 400 block of First Avenue NE. Complainant reported they found a couple of kids on their property at about 2:30 p.m. June 2. Kids rode off on bikes. She said interior and exterior of building has been spray painted but they have no idea when it occurred.
June 5
10:41 p.m. Unlocked door. 900 block of 21st Avenue NE. An officer located an open door at Floor to Ceiling. Police walked through the building and did not locate anything suspicious.
June 7
7:19 p.m. Disorderly conduct. 300 block of College Avenue N. The officer met with the Holiday Station store clerk complainant/victim who stated a man was at the pumps and his 10-cents-off card wasn’t working. The man came into the store, threw the card at the complainant, complainant gave the card back, then the man pulled out a knife to cut up the card. The man was verbal with the complainant who stated the incident scared her and she was crying. Complainant stated no threats with the knife were made. They did not want to provide a statement and wanted nothing done about the incident.
June 10
4:32 p.m. Suspicious activity. 600 block of Elena Lane. The complainant said a strange man came up to their door talking about insects. The officer located the man at Klinefelter Park. He stated he is selling pest-control products. The officer asked to see his peddler’s permit. He handed the officer a Sartell permit. He was advised to stop going door-to-door until he obtains a permit from St. Joseph city.
June 11
6:09 p.m. Dog at large. 10th Avenue S./Able Street E. An officer located a dog near the intersection. Dog was captured and they attempted to find the owner. For now, it will be placed in a kennel at Public Works. A woman that works at a rescue volunteered to care for it for the night. It was going to be taken to Tri County or Grey Face tomorrow if it was not claimed. The owner was located and the dog was returned.
June 14
10:49 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. Baker Street E./16th Avenue SE. The complainant reported a silver Dodge pickup has been driving around the area since around 8 a.m. and pulls into random driveways and sits for a while and leaves. The complainant reported the vehicle was now back and sitting in a driveway at the intersection of Baker Street E. and 16th Avenue SE. Arrived on scene and the vehicle was gone.
June 16
3:03 a.m. Intoxicated individual. 200 Second Avenue NW. An officer overheard another officer go out with an intoxicated man at Kwik Trip west. Arrived on scene and ID’d the man, who was sweating and shaking. Both officers asked if he needed medical care and he refused. The man asked one of the officers to give him a ride home. The man seemed to be able to care for himself.
June 19
8:59 a.m. Noise complaint. 29000 block of 91st Avenue. The complainant stated there was a silver Subaru sitting in front of his house blaring music and bass. The complainant confronted the driver and he took off. No license plate was obtained. The officer checked the area and was unable to locate it.
June 21
11:04 p.m. Medical. 300 block of 20th Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to medical for a woman, who is 18 weeks pregnant. The woman has pre-eclampsia and her blood pressure was 156/99. The officer arrived on scene and the woman was sitting on the couch. She rechecked her blood pressure with no change. St. Joseph Fire Department and Mayo arrived on scene.
June 23
8:08 p.m. Burning complaint. 300 block of Cypress Drive. The caller believed the people at this residence were burning something they shouldn’t. The officer arrived and viewed the fire pit, which was smoking and no flames were seen. The contents appeared to consist of timber and forest products, and was well contained within retaining stones. No ordinance violation occurred. The officer informed the resident why they were there and that they did not observe any violations.
