‘Big Beautiful Bill’ a huge assault on Americans

Trump’s trumped-up “Big Beautiful Bill” is in fact a “Huge Cruel Assault” against America, Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.

It’s proof again of King Trump’s biggest ongoing Loud Lie – that he is a friend and protector of working folks.

That bill adds $3.3 trillion to the deficit. (Are you listening, you Republican deficit-reduction hawks?) A few of its other heartless provisions are these: to hack $1 trillion from Medicaid, millions of dollars from food stamps, and cuts that will increase premiums for those insured via the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare). This bill is the biggest federal slash of health-care programs in American history. Just think of the many small, rural hospitals that will have to close.

Ever since ObamaCare was approved in 2010, many Republicans angrily railed against it as a “trainwreck.” Dozens of times they sought to squelch it – without success, most memorably when Republican Sen. John McCain walked to the front of the Senate Chamber and gave a decisive thumbs-down gesture, meaning “Hell no!” His decisive vote saved it.

This time, in Trump’s Royal Reign, he and his mean-spirited minions are convinced they can finally cripple or kill the now-popular ObamaCare through back-door sabotage tactics.

Every time Republicans try to kill programs that help hard-working Americans, they claim they’re getting rid of “waste, fraud, abuse.” Many villainize good people in need of help as a bunch of slackers, leeches, lazy whelps. In the same way, they are demonizing hard-working, tax-paying immigrants as illegal aliens who must be up to no good. Criminals!

By the way, where will those savings in “waste, fraud, abuse” end up? Duh! As huge tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires, that’s where. Remember after his tax cuts for the rich in 2017, Trump bragged loudly to his ritzy banquet guests, “Hey, you guys, I just made you a lotta money!” Well, remember it again; it’s happening again.

And please remember in 2015 when Trump vowed he would start a totally affordable health-care policy that would insure everybody. Everybody! “Can you believe it?” It would, he said, be the Biggest, Best Health-Care Program in the History of the World! Yeah, sure, Donnie. Tell us another lie.

These attacks against food support and health-care access will affect up to 16 million Americans, including so many children, parents, veterans and disabled people struggling for a chance at the American Dream. Many will go hungry and/or have no access to preventive care, and some will die after they end up, too late, in emergency wards. The victims may well be people we know and love.

Those terrifying outcomes are sinking into many hearts and minds. Even some Republicans blasted the bill. Among them were legislators Josh Hawley, Lisa Murkowski and Marjorie Taylor Green, who described the bill as a “S..t Show.” But, go figure, like lemmings rushing to the cliff’s edge, they voted for it. Republican senators Rand Paul, Susan Collins and Thom Tillis voted against it, to their credit, as did two House Republicans, Brian Fitzpatrick and Thomas Massie. Wisely, all Democrats nixed it.

Every one of Minnesota’s Republican House members voted for it: our “very own” Sixth District Rep. Tom Emmer along with Michelle Fischbach, Brad Finstad and Pete Stauber. Have they no shame?

And get this: the Medicaid cuts won’t happen until after the mid-term elections. Why? No doubt to shield Republican ring-kissers from being defeated by angry Americans.

That Bully Bill contains other excesses: cuts to green-energy projects, massive increases for the Defense Department and for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and much more. We can expect more arbitrary round-ups of immigrants and more expulsions to vicious detention camps like “Alligator Alcatraz” in the Florida Everglades.

That cruel bill is 940 pages long. It’s incumbent upon all of us to learn exactly what is in it and how it threatens this nation’s future. We who love America must speak up loudly against that bill every chance we get!
