Construction of a roundabout in west St. Joseph began on July 8 at the intersection of Minnesota Street E. and County State Aid Highway 2.
That intersection is now closed to through traffic. The roundabout construction area is located just to the north of the interchange at Interstate 94.
The roundabout is expected to be completed at the end of August. In the meantime, motorists should look for the bright-orange detour signs and then follow along those detour roadways. Drivers are also advised to find alternate routes to avoid that construction area.
Detour routes are noted on the St. Joseph city website.
To access businesses within St. Joseph, motorists should take the first exit at the Hwy. 75 exit for eastbound traffic on Interstate 94. Traffic on westbound Interstate 94 can reach St. Joseph by following the posted detour signs.
The roundabout project is a joint venture undertaken by the Stearns County Highway Department and the City of St. Joseph. Stearns County hired J.R. Ferche of Rice to do the project.
