A reconstruction project, including a roundabout, is well on the way to completion on CR 133, which is a county state-aid road in north St. Joseph.
The project, which began on June 2, is expected to be finished by the end of September. It’s a partnership with input from both Stearns County and St. Joseph. The project’s contractor is Knife River Corp., Sauk Rapids.
Meanwhile, another roundabout project in the city at Minnesota Street East and CR 2 is all but completed. That work, undertaken by contractor J.R. Ferche of Rice, began on July 8.
The project along CR 133 is being done in two phases.
Phase I involves the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of CR 133 and Elm Street, which has been extended in length to the east. CR 133 is also being resurfaced north to 15th Avenue.
Phase II includes road reconstruction on CR 133 south to CR 75 (the main road/highway, also a county state-aid road) that runs east-west in St. Joseph. During Phase II, a second left-turn lane will be added on CR 75 for motorists turning left onto CR 133. In addition, CR 133 will be widened to create a four-lane roadway between CR 75 and Elm Street.
Motorists are advised to be on the lookout for detour signs in that area of construction.
