School District Superintendent

The start of a new school year always brings a special energy. In Sartell-St. Stephen schools, that energy was felt the moment our staff returned in late August and our students walked back into classrooms after Labor Day. The excitement of fall is in the air, and our schools are once again filled with learning, laughter and opportunities for growth.

We welcomed 4,072 students to the 2025-26 school year who are eager to learn, build friendships and discover their passions. From our youngest preschool students stepping into school for the first time to our seniors preparing for life after graduation, every student adds to the strength of our district.

Our teachers and staff bring dedication and care to their work each day and:

prepare lessons that challenge and inspire;

create welcoming spaces where students feel safe and supported;

and go above and beyond to help students reach their full potential.

This commitment is a major reason Sartell-St. Stephen schools rank among the top schools in Minnesota, with continued strong scores in reading and math, high graduation rates and opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

Autumn in our community also means Homecoming. This tradition brings students, families and residents together to celebrate our shared Sabre spirit. Pep fests, athletic events and community gatherings remind us how connected we are. The Sabre pride on display is one of the things that makes our Sartell-St. Stephen community such a special place to live and learn.

School-Board Month

As we celebrate the return to school, it’s also important to highlight September as School Board Recognition Month. School-board members are vital leaders in public education. They are elected by the community to make decisions that shape the future of our schools. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but their impact is felt in every classroom and across our community.

In Sartell-St. Stephen, our school-board members spend countless hours reviewing budgets, setting policies, listening to community input and planning for the future. They do this work because they believe deeply in the power of public education. Their commitment ensures students in our district have access to excellent opportunities now and in the years to come.

School-board members also model civic leadership for our students. They show that service, responsibility and teamwork matter. By working together, even when challenges arise, they keep students at the center of every decision. This is a lesson as valuable as any taught in our classrooms.

As superintendent, I am grateful for our school-board members and the thoughtful leadership they provide. I also encourage our community to take a moment to thank them for their service, especially this month. A quick note, kind word or simple acknowledgment goes a long way in showing appreciation for their efforts.

Looking ahead

The start of school, the crisp fall air, Homecoming traditions and school-board recognition all remind us of the importance of community. Our district is stronger because of the people who support it: parents, caregivers, staff, students, residents and leaders who give their time and energy to ensure success.

Together, we create schools that are more than places of learning. Sartell-St. Stephen is a center of pride, connection and opportunity. As we move into this new season, let’s carry this excitement forward and continue building a bright future for every student in Sartell-St. Stephen schools.
