The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident with injuries early evening Sept. 13 near the intersection of CR 145 and 180th Street in Lynden Township, which is located approximately 4 miles southwest of the City of Clearwater.
Upon arrival, deputies located a man who had been thrown from his motorcycle with severe injuries. Further investigation revealed the motorcycle had been traveling westbound on CR 145 and failed to negotiate the southbound curve. This caused the driver, Kyle Andrew Erickson, 35, of Big Lake, to lay the bike down and enter the ditch where he then hit a road sign.
Erickson was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater Fire and Rescue and Minnesota State Patrol. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
