(from news release)
St. Joseph residents should mark Saturday, Oct. 18 on their calendars to remind themselves that on that day there will be two opportunities to safely get rid of unwanted items.
Fall Cleanup
The annual Fall Cleanup is set for Saturday, Oct. 18 throughout the city. Residents who participate in the city’s Refuse Program may place additional refuse curbside by 6 a.m. on Oct. 18. There will be no additional refuse take-away charge for the service. Items to be placed curbside should not cover more than a 6-foot by 6-foot area by the curb.
The following items should not be placed on the refuse pile: appliances and televisions, electronic devices such as computer monitors, tires, pollutants, yard waste and construction waste. (For more on those items, see the following paragraph.)
Appliances, electronics
The appliance, electronics pick-up will take place from 8 a.m. to noon, also on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the pick-up site next to the St. Joseph Public Works facility, located at 1855 Elm St. E.
Residents will be allowed to drop off at that site only two appliances/electronics per household. Only residents who participate in the city’s Refuse Program are eligible to drop off items. Please be prepared to present your ID to confirm residency in St. Joseph.
