The St. John’s Prep School Knowledge Bowl team won the state championship in the Class A division at the Minnesota Knowledge Bowl meet April 12-13 at Cragun’s Resort near Brainerd.
The team was tops of 24 teams that competed in its division. Its members are Isaac Bohart, Emiliana Cofell, Hank Dudley, Christian Gaetz and Brenden Wichman. The coaches for the team are Jen Daiker and Charles Miller.
The St. John’s Prep team received 141.5 points. Second-place was Minnesota Lutheran Valley with 120.5 points, and third was Pelican Rapids with 113.5 points.
The state event was sponsored by 11 educational service cooperatives in the state, with St. John’s Prep being sponsored as part of Region 7 by Resource Training & Solutions, based in St. Cloud.
All told, 48 teams (Class A and Class AA combined) competed at the meet. They were the winners of more than 800 teams that previously competed throughout Minnesota. At Cragun’s Resort, all of the teams participated in a written round followed by five oral rounds. There were 285 questions on virtually every conceivable subject asked of all the teams.
