Highway 10 road construction between Clear Lake and Big Lake continues at a good pace due to the unseasonably warm weather we have been experiencing.
Contractors began early this month with the westbound concrete removals, grading work and drainage improvements throughout the entire project. These construction activities will continue throughout the course of the project until completion.
Reconstruction work in the eastbound lanes at Big Lake has gone extremely well with the new concrete roadway pavement placed two weeks ago (April 17 & 18). Bituminous shoulders, curb and gutter and striping will be completed on this section of roadway by today (April 27). Once contractors finish these operations all traffic will be routed onto the new eastbound concrete surface. This staging change will place the final leg of traffic on the two-way, two-lane eastbound traffic pattern motorists have been experiencing the past two weeks.
During the next two to three weeks residents and motorists will continue to see removal and preparation activities on the existing westbound roadway. In mid-May, PCI Roads, prime contractor on the project, will start the final westbound concrete paving operations, beginning in Big Lake and working to the west. Bituminous shoulder paving, intersection improvements and final striping and turf establishment will also be worked on simultaneously.
Final completion of the project is scheduled for early August, weather permitting.
Our goal is to maintain safety and mobility for residents, employees and visitors during construction. Motorists are urged so slow down, pay attention and watch for workers while traveling in the construction zone — for your safety and ours.
