April 9
8:34 a.m. Medical. CR 75 W. Police were called to a 51-year-old male who had been throwing up and then passed out. When police arrived, the male was alert but had shoulder pain. He was transported to a medical center by Gold Cross.
8:50 p.m. Traffic stop. Callaway Street/College Avenue S. An officer stopped a vehicle for having expired registration. The driver, a 28-year-old male, also had a revoked license and could not provide proof of insurance. The officer had the male call a friend to pick up the car, advised him to leave it at home until he could rectify the situation and cited him for no proof of insurance and driving after his license had been revoked.
April 10
2:28 p.m. Alarm. Kohler Court. Police responded to an alarm at a local business. The premises was checked and secured, with nothing out of the ordinary.
April 11
12:49 a.m. Intoxicated person. 5th Avenue SE. A 24-year-old male was seen walking through a yard, and knocking down a bird feeder. Police confronted the male, who stated he was taking a shortcut home from the bar. The male took a preliminary breath test and registered .14. The officer explained to the male he needed to take sidewalks or streets home, and then gave him a ride. No charges were pressed for the bird feeder.
3:32 p.m. Open container. Ash Street W. An officer noticed a male walking in a yard toward the street with an open can of beer. The officer told him through his car window not to walk in the street with the open beer. The man looked toward the squad and then walked into the street. The officer confiscated the beer, and cited the man.
8:41 p.m. Drug possession. College Avenue S. College of St. Benedict security called police after smelling marijuana in a room on campus. Police were able to locate a joint on an 18-year-old male from New York City. He was issued a citation.
10:18 p.m. Public urination. Cypress Drive/Old Hwy 52. An officer observed a 21-year-old male from Andover standing in the grass of a property. The male stated he hadn’t urinated yet, but was attempting to. The male was issued a citation.
11:07 p.m. Minor consumption. 2nd Avenue NW. An officer stopped a 19-year-old male from Victoria walking across the street with an open can of beer. The male admitted to drinking, and took a preliminary breath test and registered .246. While issuing the citation, the male attempted to flee, but was apprehended a short distance away and then transported to detox.
April 16
12:18 a.m. Vehicle pursuit. CR 2, St. Joseph Twp. A Stearns County sheriff’s deputy encountered a vehicle going 70 mph. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old male from Oklahoma City, OK, but he refused to stop for nearly five miles. The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of the Cold Spring police department, and was transported to jail. He was charged with fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and speeding.
9:14 a.m. Fire. CR 118, Brockway Twp. Approximately 200 hay bales were reportedly on fire. The St. Stephen fire department responded, with assistance from St. Joseph, Sartell, Holdingford and Rice fire departments.
