Girl Scouts host neighborhood night Oct. 22

Join the Girl Scouts for their “Friends in our Neighborhood” event from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Waite Park Community Park Pavilion, 151 13th Ave. N. Girls K-12 and parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to be introduced to the world of Girl Scouts and to interact and learn about the Waite Park police and fire departments, K-9 unit and emergency vehicles. There will be free hot dogs, s’mores and refreshments as well as lost of fun giveaways. Information will be on hand regarding fire prevention and Halloween safety, and the event will be held rain or shine. All Saints to hold Workathon Oct. 24

The 32nd annual All Saints Academy Workathon will be held Saturday, Oct. 24. Staff, students and parents will volunteer their time to assist the elderly and disabled residents of the St. Joseph community. Volunteers will rake leaves, clear gardens, sweep sidewalks and other jobs for those who need help. If you have a job you would like done by the volunteers, or if you would like to make a donation, please contact the school office at 363-7505, ext. 150.

Compost site changes to fall hours

The Sauk Rapids compost site, located two miles north of Golden Spike Road on CR 57, now has fall hours from 3-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday. The compost site accepts leaves, wood chips, brush and grass clippings with a valid compost sticker, which may be purchased at city hall or at the compost site and are available for Sauk Rapids City and Township residents, as well as Minden Township residents.

Falling for flowers class to be held Oct. 21

Flowers outside may be coming to an end, but you can still make indoor bouquets. Join other Boomers and Zoomers (55+) from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 as Rhoda Paurus from St. Cloud Floral shows examples of bouquets and demonstrates how to arrange a bouquet by having you make your own in class held at Shepherd Oaks Apartment, 310 13th St. N., Sauk Rapids. There is no fee to attend, but please register by calling Sauk Rapids-Rice Community Education at 320-258-1577 so organizers can plan for refreshments. Bring a friend and enjoy a good laugh!

MN School of Business hosts Trunk or Treat

The sixth annual Trunk or Treat, a safe and fun alternative to trick-or-treating, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Minnesota School of Business, 1201 Second St. S., Waite Park. A food donation for the Salvation Army food shelf is requested. Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating, a fire truck, police car, hot dogs and chips, games, apple cider, prizes and more. Stearns History Museum hosts Halloween Historia

Halloween Historia, a non-scary peanut-free Halloween family event, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Stearns History Museum, 235 33rd Ave. S., St. Cloud. Wear your costumes and be prepared to have fun. Trick or Treat at the Museum, meet the Candy Witch, and walk the exhibit gallery with your family to try to find all the items in the Halloween Scavenger Hunt. You also can decorate a foam art pumpkin or superhero mask, have your face painted and fortune told, and take a hayride. There are pumpkin loads of activities to do, so don’t miss the excitement. A nominal fee is charged. Admission is $4 for all ages. Infants, a year old or younger, and museum members are free. This year’s Halloween Historia is presented by Bayer Built Woodworks.

 

 

St. Cloud area Cabane presents ‘Winter Fantasy’ fashion show

St. Cloud area Cabane 415 will host its “Winter Fantasy” fashion show, luncheon and silent auction at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the American Legion 428, 17 Second Ave. N., Waite Park. Proceeds will benefit nurse training programs.

Six-eight volunteers are needed from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 to hand out candy, take pictures, assist with cookie decorating and general event set-up and tear down. Open to all ages. Friends of the Library seeks volunteers

St. Cloud Friends of the Library seeks volunteers to assist in staffing the bookstore located in the St. Cloud Library, sorting donated books and other materials, stocking the shelves in the bookstore, and determining appropriate prices for sales of the donated books as well as vintage books. Gift Gallery volunteers wanted

CentraCare is seeking volunteers to assist with day-to-day operations and sales in the Gift Gallery. All proceeds benefit the St. Cloud Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary funded programs. The Gift Gallery offers gifts for all occasions such as plush animals, flowers, plants, balloons, greeting cards, jewelry, seasonal items and much more and is staffed by welcoming and gracious volunteers. Discounts on merchandise are offered for Gift Gallery volunteers. Locations include: St. Cloud Hospital, CentraCare Health Plaza and St. Benedict’s Senior Community. Donate your furniture

You can help by donating gently-used items to help out a low-income family in need. Items accepted include couches, love seats, lamps, recliners, rockers, kitchen tables and chairs, end tables, night stands, dressers and complete bed sets (no king). Furniture with rips, stains, rust, tears or mold cannot be accepted. Tax receipts and pick-up is available. Contact the Community Furniture Program at 320-656-9004 or cfp@cmnrp.org.
