9:52 p.m. Traffic violation. College Avenue N./CR 75. Police observed a vehicle make a left turn on a red arrow. The vehicle was pulled over and issued a citation.
Dec. 15
5:27 a.m. Unlocked door. Minnesota Street E. While on foot patrol, police found a patio door unlocked at the aforementioned address. The area was cleared, and the building was secured.
Dec. 16
2:34 p.m. Compliance checks. College Avenue N. Police conducted alcohol-compliance checks at several business that sell alcohol. There was one violation.
Dec. 17
3:52 p.m. Assist. Tenth Avenue S.E. St. Joseph police assisted Stearns County probation in checking on a suspect believed to possess illegal substances. Upon arrival, there was a strong odor of marijuana in the suspect’s apartment. A glass pipe was found on the kitchen table; the suspect told police it was his pipe, but there was no marijuana in his residence. He was issued a citation for possessing drug paraphernalia. The pipe was placed into evidence.
10:35 p.m. Citation. Second Street S./29th Avenue S. While on patrol, officers were running random license-plate checks. One vehicle showed the driver had his license revoked. He was pulled over and subsequently issued a citation.
Dec. 18
12:40 a.m. Public assist. Third Street N./37th Avenue N. While on patrol, an officer was flagged down by a female in the middle of the road. She requested a ride back to her son’s residence.
11:35 p.m. Alarm. Cedar Street E. Police were dispatched after a report of an alarm. Upon arrival, the area was secured and the alarm was cancelled.
Dec. 19
1:38 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. 19th Avenue N.E. While on patrol, police found a vehicle with its light on in the corner of a parking lot. The truck had a plow attached. There was no one in the vehicle. The keyholder was contacted, and the vehicle was moved.
7:43 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Jefferson Lane. A report was made of a moving truck that had been driving around the area for some time. Eventually the vehicle backed up into a driveway, and two females got out. When they were confronted by a neighbor they immediately left.
Dec. 21
7:27 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. CR 75 E./Northland Drive. A complainant called authorities after a vehicle that was originally behind him pulled alongside him and threw two cigarette butts at the complainant’s vehicle. Nothing further has been determined at this time.
Dec. 22
10:19 a.m. Drive-off. College Avenue N. Police made contact with a man who had driven off without paying for his gas. The man returned to the gas station and paid his bill.
6:02 p.m. Medical. Minnesota Street W. Police responded to a man who had broken his ankle after fainting from a dizzy spell. Gold Cross arrived and transported him to the hospital for further assistance.
Dec. 23
5:26 a.m. Alarm. Frontage Road S. Authorities were dispatched after a report of an alarm. Upon arrival, police found an employee on the scene. The building was secured.
Dec. 25
1:56 a.m. Driving complaint. Minnesota Street/College Avenue N. An anonymous complainant called police after seeing a vehicle run a stop sign at the aforementioned intersection. The area was searched, but no vehicle matching the complainant’s description could be found.
Dec. 26
10:14 a.m. Civil dispute. Sixth Avenue N.W. A report of a domestic dispute between a sister, brother and sister-in-law. The sister-in-law stated the brother and sister were in a conspiracy against her based on her race. She did not feel safe in their presence and eventually agreed to stay at a hotel until she flew back home.
9:17 p.m. Warrant. College Avenue S. Police arrested a male who had a felony warrant for third-degree burglary. The warrant was confirmed by dispatch, and the man was searched and taken to Stearns County Jail for further processing.
Dec. 27
7:21 p.m. Suspicious activity. College Avenue S. Police responded to a complainant who reported a child was making a lot of noise and banging on the walls of a nearby apartment. This was not the first complaint made regarding this particular tenant. The resident was advised of the complaint; authorities suggested counseling or a doctor’s visit for the child’s behavioral issues.
Dec. 28
3:28 p.m. Counterfeit. Elm Street E. A local business called, stating they had been given three $5 bills that were fake. They had not realized this until the customer had left. No further action has been taken at this time.
Dec. 29
4:43 p.m. Suspicious activity. CR 75/CR 133. A complainant called police after seeing a male texting while driving. Authorities checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Dec. 31
12:32 a.m. Welfare check. Dale Street E. Police responded to a male who was making suicidal claims after his girlfriend of nine months broke up with him. Upon arrival, authorities found his family was aware of the situation. The male stated he would not harm himself. No further action was taken.
Jan. 1
12:06 a.m. Welfare check. Hickory Court. Authorities were dispatched after an intoxicated male sent his wife a video message stating he had drunk too much and was planning to kill himself. The man was found face down in his bathroom, denied being suicidal but agreed to go to the hospital to be treated for his intoxication. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross.
2:01 p.m. Theft. Minnesota Street W. A female called police after her jacket had been taken from her unlocked vehicle. Inside her jacket were her car keys and driver’s license. Police stated she would be informed if her items were turned in.
Jan. 2
10:24 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. College Avenue S./Iverson Street W. While on patrol, police observed a running vehicle with its lights on in a parking lot. Officers checked the area and found a male in the driver’s seat talking on his cell phone. No further action was taken.
11:17 p.m. Bar checks. Minnesota Street. Extra patrol was requested for bar checks. No issues arose.
Jan. 3
4:37 p.m. Alarm. Cedar Street E. Police were dispatched to an alarm at a local business. The building was secured, and the alarm was cancelled.
Jan. 4
12:36 a.m. Civil. College Avenue N. An employee at a gas station charged a customer the wrong amount for gas. The customer had already left once they realized their mistake. Authorities advised the employee to contact the customer on their own time.
11:32 a.m. Public assist. First Avenue S.E. While on patrol, police were flagged down by a male party who stated his mother, who has dementia, had left the house. She refused to come home. Police transported both the man and his mother back to their residence. They were advised to call if any further assistance was needed.
Jan. 5
7:13 p.m. Animal complaint. Iris Lane E. A complainant reported a dog had been barking at their neighbor’s residence overnight. Upon arrival, police entered the house but found no one home. The dog was lying inside. Authorities left their contact information and cleared the area.
Jan. 6
11:43 p.m. Welfare check. College Avenue N./Minnesota Street E. Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male who was stumbling on the road with a pitcher in his hand. Authorities checked the area but found nothing.
Jan. 7
4:25 p.m. Suspicious activity. Cedar Street E. A male complainant called authorities after receiving a number of death threats on his voicemail. He checked with his phone provider, but they were unable to trace the source of the harassing calls. Police stated there is nothing more they can do at this time but advised the complainant to keep them abreast of the matter.
Jan. 8
10:40 a.m. Damaged property. Minnesota Street W. Police responded to a report of graffiti on the west side of a local building. Photos were taken, but no suspects have been determined.
1:01 p.m. Domestic. Able Street E. Police responded to a report of a disagreement between a male, his ex-girlfriend and her parents. The girlfriend was moving out with the help of her parents, who were throwing boxes around. Upon arrival, all parties were calm and stated they did not need any intervention. They were advised to call if the situation got out of hand.
