The Pine Meadow Elementary School’s lunch program was honored recently by Stearns County for its dedication to food safety.
It shared the annual award with La Casita Mexican Restaurant of Waite Park.
After being recognized by the Stearns County Board of Commissioners at its Feb. 2 meeting, staff from the county’s Environmental Services Department presented the 2015 Food Safety awards.
Each year, the award is given to one school and one restaurant in the county.
Carole Michalek, head cook, and Deb Ertl, cook, accepted the award on behalf of Pine Meadow Elementary.
Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department is responsible for inspections of the nearly 400 food establishments in the county.
