Lemonade, Laughter set May 10 at SFX
The eighth annual Lemonade and Laughter, sponsored by the Sartell Senior Connection along with Country Manor Senior Campus and Sartell-St. Stephen Community Education, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 10 in St. Francis Xavier Church, 219 Second St. N., Sartell. The event will feature the music and fun of Ted Manderfeld – half of Deuces Wild – who will entertain with standards from the Great American Songbook. Come early to shop the gift table with proceeds supporting SSC programs. There will be a quilt door prize and as always lemonade, coffee, treats and fun. $3/person at the door.

Dog lovers, furry friends fight cancer
Bark for Life will celebrate the lifelong contributions of canine caregivers to cancer patients at 9 a.m., with a walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at Pinecone Central Park in Sartell. The celebration will include doggie games, contests, music, a Pooch Smooch Booth, a Rainbow Bridge, entertainment, food and a one-mile walk. Funds raised through Bark for Life help the American Cancer Society save lives by funding groundbreaking research, supporting education efforts and providing free information and critical services for cancer patients. Last year, more than 20,000 registered canine and caregiver participants at 300 Bark for Life events across the country raised $1.2 million. League of Women Voters to host speaker May 11
J. Drake Hamilton of the Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization Fresh Energy will address energy policy with a focus on hidden costs of current means of producing electricity at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at Whitney Senior Center, 1527 Norway Drive, St. Cloud. Hamilton is Fresh Energy’s science policy director who represented Fresh Energy at the Paris climate summit. Hamilton was awarded an international leaders fellowship from the European Union and used that award to study climate policy solutions. Gathering for snacks and conversation will begin at 5:30 p.m.; Hamilton will speak at 6:30 p.m.

Metro Bus extends Dial-a-Ride customer service hours
Metro Bus Dial-a-Ride customers who need to cancel a ride can talk to a dispatcher until 8 p.m. on weekdays. Customers previously left cancellation messages after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. Metro Bus Dial-a-Ride will continue to take reservations and changes to reservations 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekends. Metro Bus Dial-a-Ride is a shared ride service requiring advanced reservations for individuals with disabilities who are unable to ride the fixed route and require door-through-door driver-assisted service. Users must complete a certification process before using the system. Last year, Metro Bus provided more than 133,000 rides on Dial-a-Ride. Mental Health course teaches basic skills
A free Mental Health First Aid training course designed to teach the basic first-aid skills needed to help a person who is experiencing a mental-health problem or crisis will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 16 at St. Cloud Hospital, 1406 Sixth Ave. N. Flyers in Search of a Dream documentary screening set May 10
The documentary Flyers in Search of a Dream will be screening from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the Charles A. Lindbergh Historic Site, 1620 Lindbergh Drive S., Little Falls. This film documents the lives and adventures of early black aviators from Bessie Coleman, the first black female pilot, to James Herman Banning, the first black person to complete a transcontinental flight. The museum and gift shop will be open for a short time before and after the film screening.

Healthyville exhibit volunteers wanted
Stearns History Museum is excited to bring Healthyville, a nationally acclaimed touring exhibit, to St. Cloud this summer. This exhibit will arrive Friday, May 27 and remain until Sunday, Sept. 4. Healthyville is an interactive exhibit that teaches health-and-wellness lessons through play-filled activities and educational messages that foster learning by doing. It needs volunteers to assist with the success of accommodating a record number of visitors to the museum. Volunteers will work in the lobby taking tickets, answering questions, monitoring the exhibit, responding to questions and keeping the exhibit tidy for volunteers. MN Senior Games volunteers wanted
The Minnesota Senior Games will allow more than 500 athletes 50 years of age and older to compete in 20+ events Thursday-Sunday, May 19-22 in the St. Cloud area. Dedicated volunteers are needed at a variety of events during the games. Each volunteer shift will run approximately three to four hours. Volunteers will receive a 2016 Minnesota Senior Games T-shirt and those who sign up for two or more shifts will be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card. Shoe donations wanted
The Central Minnesota Council and Boy Scouts of America, who are involved with the Soles4Souls initiative, are collecting tennis shoes, sandals, snow boots and everything in between. Soles4Souls believes everyone around the world deserves a good pair of shoes. This is a nonprofit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing. Since 2006, Soles4Souls has collected and distributed 26 million pairs of shoes to those in need in 127 countries around the world and all 50 states in the U.S. Shoes can be dropped off at the Boy Scout Service Center, 1191 Scout Drive, Sartell.
