St. Joseph Y2K Lions members Jan and Ralph Boeckers, husband and wife, visit with Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner and his wife Julie Sanner (left to right) at the Heroes Appreciation Picnic Aug. 23 at Millstream Park in St. Joseph. Sanner said the event was very nice and he especially appreciates the local support because of the way many officers are getting “beat up” across the country. He said in the last month he has had at least 30 people approach him to “thank him” for the wonderful job he and his department are doing. He added that without support from the area they cannot do their jobs. The event was hosted by the Y2K Lions, St. Joseph Lions and St. Joseph Jaycees.
