Sept. 27

3:58 p.m. Driving complaint. Benton Drive/Second Street N. Officers were asked to call a complainant in regards to someone who had been texting and driving. The complainant stated that while he was driving a school bus that afternoon, he witnessed a vehicle, which had driven through the stop-arm extended by the bus. The bus driver saw the driver of the vehicle was texting. The license plate number was obtained. Police followed up by going to the registered owner’s address, but the vehicle was not parked there. The address will be continually checked until contact is made.

Sept. 28

6:40 p.m. Property damage. Orchard Avenue N.E. Police responded to a complainant who stated there was a dent in her garage door and broken glass in the driveway. The woman stated she had been having issues with one of her mail carriers and believed he might have done the damage. Police followed up with delivery service who advised they knew nothing of the incident.

8:48 p.m. Gas-drive off. Benton Drive S. Police responded to a gas station after a vehicle had driven off without paying. The employee on staff stated the car had left without even making an attempt to pay. Officers ran several combinations of the license plate but were not able to locate a match.

Sept. 29 

1:05 p.m. Theft. Second Avenue S. Officers met with a complainant who stated there were several valuables missing from his vehicle. He had left his car unlocked while at his son’s house and believed this is when they were taken. The stolen items were valued at more than $1,000. The items were entered into the missing items log.

7:35 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. 18th Street Court. Officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked with its lights off. Police approached the vehicle, and found a man and woman laying down inside. They stated they would leave the area immediately. No further action was taken.

10:40 p.m. Arrest. Benton Drive N. While on routine patrol, officers were flagged down by a man who stated he was concerned about a man his daughter had brought into the house. He had discovered this man had serious past offenses and warrants, and he wanted him removed from the residency. Police went to the complainant’s home and found the suspect inside. He admitted to his offenses and was arrested on site. He was then transported to Benton County Jail.
