
The SYHA Squirt A team competed in the Moose Tournament in Monticello, Dec 2-4 and ended a great weekend with a third-place trophy. They won against Rogers 5-3 but stumbled in the next game against Chaska/Chanhassen. In the next contest, they rallied to tie St. Louis Park 1-1 and then beat Delano 3-2 in the third-place game. Goalie Noah Hacker helped his team with an amazing weekend of 115 saves throughout the four games. Kaleb Myhrwold, Sartell, was recently accepted for the 2017-18 academic year at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Myhrwold has also been awarded the president’s scholarship.

The Sartell High School girls varsity dance team finished first at the Eastview Invitational on Dec. 10. The group placed first in kick with a total point score of 417, a rank of 4 and an average number of 83.4 in all categories. Additionally, the team placed third in jazz with a total point score of 386, a rank of 8.5 and an average score in categories of 77.2.

The Storm’n Sabres varsity hockey team beat Rocori-River Lakes 2-1 in their Dec. 15 match-up. The Storm’n Sabres found themselves down 1-0 just 31 seconds into the first period but were able to tie the score when Alexa Paulson tipped in a Megan Cook shot for a power-play goal midway through the period. On their 45th shot of the night, with just 27 seconds remaining in overtime, Cook found the back of the net off a feed from Bria Ferns for the game winner. Madi DeMarais stopped 16 of 17 shots for the win.
