April 5
12:59 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. Pinecone Road N. While an officer was on routine patrol, they noticed a vehicle parked in a closed business parking lot. The officer stopped and made contact with the driver. The female driver told the officer she was 21 years old, and the male passenger was 31 years old. The female driver stated they were there talking. The officer asked her to step out of the car, and confirmed she was there on her own free will. The officer noticed the woman appeared to be tearing up and again asked her if she was there of her own will and needed help. The woman assured the officer she was OK. The officer asked them to move to a different location since the business was closed.
April 6
10:11 p.m. Window peek. Fieldcrest Lane. Officers were dispatched to a complaint of someone looking into their bedroom window, and then rang the doorbell. The caller didn’t have a description other than it was most likely a man by the stature. Officers arrived in the area and checked the area but were unable to locate anyone. The complainant told the officer she was in her bedroom lying in bed and fell asleep with the TV on, when she woke up there was a person standing in her window. She started to scream and yell that she was calling the cops, and the person left but then she heard her doorbell ring. She told officers her daughter had just moved home, and they had switched bedrooms, and that it could possibly be her ex-boyfriend. Officers made contact with the ex-boyfriend, and he admitted it was him. He had been texting the daughter and she didn’t respond so he came over. He knocked on the window, but it was the mother in that room, not the girlfriend. Everything was sorted out and the officers were able to clear.
April 7
5:46 p.m. Property damage. Pinecone Road S. An officer was requested to respond to a business for a complaint of a person pushing a shopping cart into a vehicle. The caller said a customer pushed the cart into her vehicle causing damage; when confronted the other party left without leaving information. The officer was able to get the other parties’ information from the store, as they had left it with them. The officer spoke to the other party who said someone else’s cart was in her way, so she pushed it to the store wall and left it. The complainant then confronted her by yelling at her, so she left. Store video was watched, and it shows the wind taking the cart and hitting multiple vehicles. Both parties advised nothing further would be done as it is an act of nature.
April 8
10:05 p.m. Agency assist. Brookwood Lane. A Sartell officer assisted Stearns County deputies with a warrant attempt at a residence. Negative contact was made with the man.
April 9
11:21 a.m. Welfare check. Blackberry Circle. Officers were dispatched for a younger kid calling 911. The officer was told the child thought he was home alone, and while playing a video game someone yelled “help, help, help, I’m being abused” with a voiceover machine. The child took this seriously and called 911. A Sartell officer went to check on the caller. The officer was met in the yard by the child and father. Everything on scene was OK. The officer spoke to the child about talking to his parents about stuff like this and the importance of calling 911. The officer was unable to find who the other child was due to it being through a game and lack of information.
April 10
9:39 a.m. Property damage. 12th Street N. An officer was requested to give the complainant a call about an explosion she heard the night before. The officer called and the woman informed him that around 10 p.m. the night before she heard a few small explosions and a car squeal out of the park near her home. Today while on a walk they noticed someone blew up the trash can at the park. The officer went to the park and found a permanent trash can between the parking lot and playground had been completely destroyed. The grass around the trash can and along the fence had been burned. There was also charring on the fence where the trash can was. The officer took pictures and notified city maintenance.
April 11
10:42 a.m. Assist agency. 23rd Avenue N. St. Joseph Police Department requested Sartell officers stop at an address for a gas drive off. The Sartell officer stopped by the address and located the vehicle in question in the driveway. No one came to the door when the officer knocked, but the officer was able to get the driver’s attention and they came to the door. The female driver claimed she used a credit card to pay. The woman also had a warrant for her arrest, but the jail would not take her on them. The St. Joseph officer told the woman she would be charged with driving after revocation and theft unless she could produce proof of payment for the gas.
April 12
9:01 p.m. Crash. First Street NE. Dispatch notified an officer of a property accident, a vehicle backed into a cement post. The officer spoke to the driver, there were no injuries, but the vehicle wasn’t driveable. The driver told the officer she was backing up and did not check her blind spots. The business allowed the vehicle to stay in the lot until it could be removed by the owner.
April 13
5:36 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Third Street N. and 23rd Avenue N. An officer was requested to check a red Ford car and a black Camry parked at the end of a dead-end road. It has been an ongoing issue per the caller. When the officer arrived on scene, they noted the vehicles were unoccupied and blocking a fire hydrant. The officer located an address for the registered owner and went to speak to them. The officer spoke to a woman at the home who said they had their kids park down there because they were having their roof redone. The officer asked them to move the cars.
April 14
3:27 p.m. DWI. Second Ave. N. An officer was dispatched for a hit-and-run that had just occurred at an intersection. The officer was in the area and located the vehicle in a business parking lot. The officer could see a man out, checking fresh damage to his vehicle. The man tried walking away from the officer when the officer pulled up, but the officer was able to re-direct him. After briefly speaking to the man, the officer informed him he would need to do some field sobriety and the man refused. The man did allow the officer to do a preliminary breath test on him. Due to the results, the officer detained the man. The man was booked into the Stearns County Jail and held for court for DWI, hit-and-run property damage and other offenses.
April 15
7:57 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Third Avenue N. Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a private parking lot. The caller said he was practicing driving with his son when two other vehicles pulled up and were giving them the middle finger and parked close to them. The officers arrived on scene and all parties were identified. The officer told all parties they were not allowed on the property after hours. All parties were told to leave the property and they did.

April 16
9:49 p.m. DWI. Second Street S. Officers were requested for a motor-vehicle crash. The complainant stated he was rear ended by another party, then pushed down the roadway by the vehicle and then the driver drove around his vehicle into a driveway. The complainant followed the other party and asked if they were OK, and the driver then went into the home. When the officer arrived on scene, he saw the complainant sitting at the end of the driveway outside of his truck and another man next to a Trailblazer with front-end damage. The officer spoke to the male driver, who was having a hard time answering questions the officer was asking. The driver refused to do field sobriety testing and refused to give a preliminary breath test. The man was ultimately booked into the Stearns County Jail for DWI.
April 17
1:03 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. CR 120. While an officer was on routine patrol checking parks, they noticed two vehicles at Sauk River Regional Park. The officer noted one of the vehicles parked was still running. As the officer approached the running vehicle, he found two individuals were in the back seat of the car. The officer identified both parties and explained to them they were in the park after hours. The man and woman both told the officer they didn’t know about the park hours. As the officer was speaking to the two parties, he observed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. As the officer started scanning inside the vehicle, he saw a mason jar with a green leafy substance in it, and an item that appeared to be a bong. The officer asked if there was anything else in the vehicle he needed to know about, and the man said there was more marijuana in the front. The officer waited for another officer to arrive, and they searched the vehicle finding more marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The male party took ownership of all items and was cited for them.
April 18
11:12 a.m. Crash. Pinecone Road N. An officer was notified by dispatch that this morning at 6:45 a.m. a vehicle had spun out on the icy roadway and hit a sign. The vehicle had damage and was parked further down the roadway and would be towed shortly. The officer located the sign, which did not appear to be damaged. The officer also located the vehicle down the road on a side street with front-end damage. The officer took photos of both and collected insurance information in case the sign did need to be replaced.
