March 28
6:01 p.m. Traffic stop. Highway 15. While an officer was on routine patrol and stopped at a red light, they observed a vehicle in front of them with a female driver holding a cell phone to her right ear talking. The officer conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and the female driver admitted to engaging in a phone call. The officer issued the woman a citation for wireless communication devices while driving. The citation was explained, and the woman was allowed on her way.
March 29
9:38 a.m. Elevator alarm. Connecticut Avenue S. An officer responded to an elevator alarm at a business. Upon arrival, the officer could not hear an alarm in the elevators, and they appeared to be operational. The officer rode the elevator to the clinic level and was informed by check-in staff that a small child had pushed the “call for help” button. The officer waited for the fire department to arrive, and they saw the alarm panel already showed back in normal operations.
March 30
6:46 p.m. Assist agency. CR 120. An officer was requested for immediate response by state patrol due to a report of a vehicle off the road that had struck a tree. As the officer arrived St. Cloud fire was already blocking the roadway and made contact with the female driver. The driver reported no injuries. The officer stood by until state patrol was able to arrive on scene.
March 31
12:05 a.m. Traffic stop. Second Street S. While an officer was running stationary radar, they locked in a vehicle going 50 mph in a 30-mph zone. Due to icy road conditions, it took the officer a bit to turn around and catch up to the vehicle to make a stop. The driver told the officer he thought he was only going 40 mph. The officer cited the man for speed, and the citation was explained to him.
April 1
3 a.m. Motorist assist. 11th Avenue NE. An officer was notified that a vehicle was stuck in the middle of the road. The officer arrived and helped push the car out of the roadway.
April 2
10:30 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Second Street S. While an officer was on patrol, they observed a vehicle in a closed business parking lot with their flashers on. The officer made contact with the woman who advised she was lost, and her family was coming to help her. She had her phone and while the officer was on scene the woman’s family arrived.
April 3
9:31 p.m. Verbal dispute. 1575 Amber Ave. S. Officers were called for what sounded like a domestic situation. The caller stated they could hear yelling and things being smashed in an apartment. Officers arrived and spoke to a woman who stated she was upset because she had just broken up with her boyfriend. The officer could see a smashed TV and a flipped chair. The officer noted seeing a small child who appeared fine, while he was there speaking to the woman. The woman told the officer she wanted to go to bed and was fine. The officer gave her his card and said to call if she wanted to speak to him further.
