July 3
6:34 p.m. Fraud. Officers were notified of a fraud complaint. The victim stated they were contacted by who she thought was her cable provider, offering her a better package for $173.99. The victim stated she provided her bank card information and told the company she was having trouble with her cable box. They told her there was nothing they could do, which is when she felt something was suspicious and stated she was calling the police. She called Spectrum who stated that was not them and to report it to the police. Officers advised the victim to call the bank of the card she used and deactivate it.
July 4
3:18 p.m. Matter of information. Second Avenue N. The caller reported a woman he was having an online relationship with, was blackmailing him and demanding bitcoin or else she would release photos of him. The caller stated while he did send photos of himself, he was not planning to send any money and has blocked all her accounts. Officers were sent pictures of the messages as well as Facebook accounts and passed the information to investigators for further review.
July 6
10:49 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S. Officers were on routine patrol when they saw a vehicle approach at an accelerated speed. Officers clocked the vehicle going 53 mph in a 30-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who stated they were on their way to the hospital to pick up their son. The driver admitted to speeding and was unable to provide any form of ID or proof of insurance. The driver was cited for speeding, driving after revocation and no proof of insurance.
July 8
6:22 p.m. Crash. 15 Street N./Riverside Avenue N. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection. The driver of the first vehicle was stopped at a stop sign waiting to turn south on Riverside, when its front end was hit but another vehicle attempting to turn onto 15th Street. The driver of the second vehicle stated the sun was in their eyes when they attempted the turn causing the two vehicles to collide. No one was hurt, however one of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
July 13
9:48 p.m. Theft. Pinecone Road N. Officers were called to a theft complaint. The complainant stated sometime during their wedding, the card box was stolen from the venue. There were roughly 100 cards with an unknown amount of money/gift cards. Officers are working with the venue to help determine if surveillance video captured the incident. There are no suspects currently. This is the third theft in a week where someone has taken the card box during a wedding event.
July 15
9:11 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue/Edgewater Lane. Officers were on patrol when they observed a vehicle displaying expired registration. The officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who stated it was their father’s vehicle and they were unaware of the expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for the expired registration and stated they would pass the information to their father to get updated registration.
