St. Joseph Catholic Church parishioner Ted Bechtold, who grew up in St. Joseph, recently returned home after living in Ukraine during part of the Russian war of aggression in that country.
He will give a presentation about his work in that war-torn country and share photos at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 in Heritage Hall at the Catholic church. The meeting is public and all are welcome.
In the early months of the war, Bechtold volunteered in Romania helping refugees as they crossed from Ukraine into safety. He returned to Ukraine in October and has been helping to provide humanitarian aid to newly liberated areas of eastern Ukraine. He could not have done these deeds without help from back home, and the Ukrainian people have expressed gratitude for all the prayers and financial support the kind Bechtold and people in America and elsewhere provided.
The Russian military attacked Ukraine in February 2022 and continued for months to attack and kill Ukrainian civilians as well as soldiers. The war continues.
