The Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a building fire around 7:21 p.m. Sept. 10 at the address of 38164 Thunder Road in Millwood Township. The caller reported a shed was on fire and there were flames and smoke coming from it.
Stearns County Deputies arrived on scene and saw there was heavy smoke coming from inside the shed and heavy fire damage to several parts of the shed. Deputies learned there were several pieces of equipment in the shed including a skid loader that was reported to be used several hours a day. The owner, Charla Bueckers, 70, of Melrose, was not home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is still under investigation. The shed and all equipment inside were a total loss.
The Freeport Fire Department, Sauk Centre Fire Department, Albany Fire Department, Melrose Fire Department and Melrose Ambulance all responded to the scene.
